Delivering beautiful spaces
Case study #1
PROJECT: Doctors Surgery to Family HomeDymchurch, Kent
A one level building originally designed to be a Doctors Surgery, which changed use to a bungalow style home.
The layout was all wrong for family life and consisted of lots of rooms functioning incorrectly for their new purpose. The rooms needed completely redesigning and redecorating, plus the configuration re-jigging to flow correctly so as to be fit for purpose. This is an ongoing project which is to be completed in stages. The master bedroom and library have been completed and the office is next on the list.
The first undertaking was to re-zone the house into appropriate areas. For instance, the original garage, filing room and waiting area now function as the master bedroom suite with library and office incorporated into this personal space – this suited the client’s brief of designating these areas close-to-hand and without disturbance.

PROJECT: ‘Wow Factor’ Guest SuiteLyminge, Kent
This beautiful historic family home had experienced a complete overhaul by it’s dedicated owners – including some sympathetic modernization.
Most of the house had been completed by third parties… and to a high standard, but due to the length of time taken on the renovations , the client had run out of steam as regards the design and finishing of their guest suite. The client wanted a beautiful, restful, high-end finish that would reflect their taste along with a nod to their rural surroundings without being too “country”.
After a lengthy consultation to get a real feel of how they wanted this room to function and embrace their guests, I began the process of putting together a beautiful scheme including products and materials that were actually available for immediate purchase as this would give my client a real sense of exactly what would be going on in the space and how the space would actually look… not just a fluid concept.
Once the design plan was approved, the work began of purchasing and delivering the products ready for installation.
Next, the interior decorating commenced with a view to achieving the high-end finish my client desired. This would include wallpaper and picture hanging by Starfish Interiors.
Finally, complete installation of the design plan! The room was completed dressed and styled exactly according to the design plan… down to the last detail. Needless to say our client was delighted with the outcome as were we.

PROJECT: Man Cave/Cinema RoomLyminge, Kent
The large purpose-built extension that housed a gym and cinema room/man cave lacked personality and needed definitive zoning so as to flow more effectively.
Having spent time consulting with my clients to ascertain what they felt was wrong with the space and what they wanted to achieve, it was clear that it would need clever zoning so as to function well and retain a sense of style.
At the outset the room felt like a large box with little personality but this was soon to change with the addition of a dazzling wall mural of Brooklyn Bridge at night hung by Starfish Interiors – this instantly set the scene for a classy but urban “basement feel” that was followed through by the client with the addition of beautiful sofas and soft furnishings that really complemented the scheme.
The client was unsure of the best layout to achieve a sense of purpose within the room, so we advised them how to zone the space effectively so as to allow the room to flow beautifully. I think we can all agree that the finished result was stunning.
